Khula farms are based in Swellendam and farming in a way that even I, someone who doesn't eat pork, might consider doing so. Check them out on instagram. 

Simon has spent the past couple of years living in a caravan next to the pigs. The pigs are the happiest I have seen! He feeds the pigs from local farms throw aways, fruit, whey and pasture. They are managed to build the soil and in the 3 times I have visited him, the transformation has been quite spectacular. The pigs act like tractors, rooting and effectively giving one last till to previously lifeless soil. In their rooting they bring up bulbs and grass life that had sat dormant for many years. Their rich manure provides the perfect fertiliser for thick lush diverse grasses and rich soil growth.
